Radhika Ashok

A Voice Carved in Grace and Tradition

Born on 16 June 1986 in Karolly House, Njangattiri, near Pattambi in Palakkad district. Radhika Ashok is a playback singer whose
journey is rooted in devotion, and an early awakening to the world of music. She is the daughter of Devarajan K and Jayasree V.
Radhika’s musical training began at the tender age of six. By second grade, she had already become a familiar presence at youth festivals,
excelling in poetry recitation, light music, and Mappila songs. Her passion soon led her to the rigours of Classical and Kathakali music,
under the guidance of esteemed gurus such as Panjal Madhu, Latha, and Kalamandalam Bhavadasan.
At eleven, she achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the All Kerala Ramayana Recitation Competition conducted by the Akhila
Kerala Ezuthachan Samajam—securing first place ahead of participants older and more experienced than her. She soon became one of the youngest A-Grade artists of All India Radio, an honour that marked the beginning of her professional ascent.
Radhika credits her late mother, Jayasree, as the unwavering force behind her early artistic achievements. The sudden loss of her mother brought a painful pause to her musical journey, yet the dream she nurtured from childhood—to sing for the silver screen—remained
alive. Her husband, Ashok, later became the pillar of support who helped her return to music and pursue her aspirations with renewed strength.

Radhika lives in Palakkad with her family and is a proud mother to her two sons, Niranjan Krishna Ashok and
Gautham Krishna Ashok. With her serene voice and steadfast dedication, she continues to inspire audiences
and uphold the rich musical heritage she represents.

In 2025, Radhika brought pride to her hometown by becoming the first artist from Palakkad to receive the prestigious Swathi
Thirunal Sangeetha Ratna Award. With 14 musical albums and 5 films to her credit, Radhika has built a diverse and respected repertoire. She fondly recalls some of the most defining moments of her career—her first song with Bollywood singer Hariharan, performances for composers
Mohan Sithara and Rahul Raj, receiving heartfelt praise from K. S. Chithra, and the honour bestowed upon her by Kaithapram
and Vidyadharan Master. Another cherished memory is receiving a shawl and memento from Ashwathi Thirunal Thampuratti,
a moment she describes as truly unforgettable.

She has also collaborated with Manorama Music and worked alongside celebrated artists including G. Venugopal, Madhu
Balakrishnan, and Biju Narayanan, further enriching her musical legacy.
